100 gecs to headline virtual Minecraft festival alongside Charli XCX, Cashmere Cat, and more
Hyperpop duo 100 gecs have announced they will headline a virtual festival Minecraft next Friday. Presented in partnership with Open Pit, the team behind virtual gatherings like Coalchella, Minegala, and Firefest, the latest relief event Square Garden will take place 6-10pm est on April 24 in support of Feeding America. The lineup features 100 gecs’ collaborator and songstress Charli XCX, Kero Kero Bonito, Cashmere Cat, Dorian Electra, among several others.
100 gecs made a splash in the experimental pop space with their debut album 1000 gecs last July. The pair further capitalized with a hefty remix of album cut “ringtone,” recruiting Charli XCX, Kero Kero Bonito, and Rico Nasty for a tasty pop reboot.
Square Garden follows on creative efforts to bring festivals into the digital realm, including a Minecraft tribute festival to Porter Robinson‘s Second Sky that took place March 28-29. Instructions for accessing the 100 gecs-helmed festival can be found here.
