Kevin Parker, Vance Joy, The Wiggles, and more slated for 'Music From The Home Front' broadcast special
Tame Impala mastermind Kevin Parker, Vance Joy, The Wiggles, and Courtney Barnett have been confirmed for Australasian concert special, Music From The Home Front. Announced April 22, the televised broadcast event will honor workers on the frontline fighting against COVID-19 as well as servicemen and women. Music From The Home Front will commence on Australia and New Zealand’s national day of remembrance, Anzac Day, observed annually on April 25.
Since its initial announcement, the tribute concert has expanded its lineup to encompass Dean Lewis, Missy Higgins, Paul Kelly, and more–several of which participated in the Lady Gaga-curated benefit concert One World: Together at Home. While every artist has volunteered their time, the event organizers state that each performance will be paid a fee, with some artists intending to pass the fee onto their bands, crews or music industry organizations.
“It is no secret that, alongside many Aussie and Kiwis, the music industry has been hard hit by COVID-19. For this very reason Music From The Home Front has chosen not to run this event as a fundraiser when many in the community are counting every dollar they have,” issued a statement.
Music From the Home Front will begin this Saturday on 7:30pm AEST / 5:30am EST and broadcast on Australia’s free-to-air Nine and 9Now, and New Zealand’s Three and ThreeNow.
