Premiere: Ost & Kjex – 'What did you do?' + Exclusive home listening mix – Dancing Astronaut
by Miley Price ·

Ost & Kjex bring it home to their very own Snick Snack Music with “What did you do?,” a spunky and deep cut that highlights the Norwegian scene’s sonic diversity and criminally underrated funk. The single leads a hypnotic two-track EP of the same name and is scheduled to release Friday June 12. Enjoy a first listen below.
Dim and soulful, with choral elements reminiscent of Simian Mobile Disco‘s more recent work, “What did you do” seamlessly translates Ost & Kjex’s delicate studio touch for the club. Like most of the Norwegian duo’s productions, the EP’s lead single dances to the beat of its own drum, bumping and grinding at a seductive 118 beats per minute.
The duo also did a bit of crate-diving, piecing together an hour long mixtape not for the club but specifically for home listening. The end result is as dynamic as it is expansive, bouncing between languages, genres, and decades alike, but infusing just enough political zest to firmly place the mix in current times. Whether you’re looking for a break from oonse-driven beats, or just want something different to work to, Cheesie’s Beach Mix Vol. 4 promises to flip the switch. Give it a spin and checkout the full track list below.
