Shaquille O'Neal teams up with Eliminate on monstrous dubstep number, 'Tear It Up'
The biggest act in bass music has returned for yet another heavy-hitting collaboration. Basketball legend, international superstar, and Lost Lands special guest Shaquille O’Neal has teamed up with Eliminate for a bone-crushing dubstep number titled “Tear It Up.” Having DJ’d since the ’80s, Shaq is no stranger to electronic music. The larger than life personality has fallen in love with bass music of late, hosting his own festival, Shaq’s Fun House, and recently releasing collaborations with NGHTMRE, Riot Ten, and Nitti Gritti. Whether it’s on the court or on the main stage, Shaq always delivers, and “Tear It Up” is no exception.
“Tear It Up” opens with a brief phone conversation that highlights Eliminate’s tongue-in-cheek humor, and wastes no time moving into an aggressive intro topped with vocals from Shaq himself. The drops are unforgiving, showcasing Eliminate’s instantly-recognizable sound design and providing the optimal soundtrack for future mosh pits.
This dubstep cut from Shaq is the gift that keeps on giving, as it comes with an animated music video featuring the whole Disciple roster facing off against Shaq in an intense basketball game. Watch the Disciple gang unleash the riddim in the full video here, and stream the single below.

Make no mistake—dance music is born from black culture. Without black creators, innovators, selectors, and communities, the electronic dance music we hold so dear would simply not exist. In short, dance music is deeply indebted to the global black community and we need to be doing more. Black artists and artists of color have played a profound role in shaping the sound and culture of dance music and now more than ever, it is necessary for everyone in the music community to stand up for the people that have given us so much. Dancing Astronaut pledges to make every effort to be a better ally, a stronger resource, and a more accountable member of the global dance music community. Black Lives Matter—get involved here:
