Skrillex and Four Tet Join Tainy, Rauw Alejandro on Reggaeton Album Track, “VOLVER”

Skrillex and Four Tet are continuing on their collaborative tear, this time teaming up with Tainy on his new track, "VOLVER."

The Puerto Rican reggaeton star tells Rolling Stone that Skrillex remains one of his biggest artistic influences, and he's consistently sought cues from the electronic music world when it comes to forging his own creative path.

"VOLVER," which appears on Tainy's new album DATA, is an upbeat cut that incorporates warm plucks, meditative melodies and dreamlike soundscapes underpinned by driving reggaeton drums. The track's synth work is spiritually cut from much the same cloth as Skrillex's Don't Get Too Close album, which dropped in February.

Tainy says EDM's influence on reggaeton is in the early stages and he's excited about the forthcoming generation of artists who are seemingly eager to continue the trend.

"Like I mentioned, being with Skrillex and seeing the two projects that he just dropped and how the energy feels—I want to be able to bring some of that because it sounds so perfect to me production-wise," Tainy said. "We were in Brazil for almost two weeks and listening to the sounds over there... I just got back so inspired to keep adding more and more to the things I want to dive into. I can’t wait to see what else this new generation keeps bringing to us."
