Avicii tribute museum to open in Stockholm in 2021 – Dancing Astronaut
More than two full years have come and gone since Tim Bergling’s untimely passing, and it remains clear that Avicii’s work stretched far beyond the field of music. The Avicii Experience, a tribute museum slated to open in Avicii’s hometown of Stockholm, Sweden in 2021, is proof of the producer’s wide-ranging artistic influence.
The Avicii Experience will serve as an interactive tribute museum that follows the late producer’s meteoric ascension “from a reclusive music nerd to a celebrated superstar, from his boyhood room where it all started to the Los Angeles studio where the biggest hits were created.” Memorabilia and never-before-seen photos and videos will all be at the fingertips of those in attendance, as well as “previously unreleased material that was the foundation for the posthumous album ‘TIM,'” and an unreleased draft of Avicii’s preeminent single, “Levels,” according to an announcement from Avicii’s team released on June 9.
Sergels Torg, a city located at the heart of Stockholm, will be the location for a new digital culture area known as SPACE, where the tribute museum is set to be built. Avicii’s father, Klas Bergling, offered insight on SPACE and its intended purpose:
At SPACE, we will carry out activities focusing on youth, with the aim to have an open and inclusive dialogue in regards to mental health.
A percentage of the revenues generated from the Avicii Experience will benefit the Tim Bergling Foundation, which was established to promote mental health awareness following Avicii’s passing in April 2018.
