Beatrice Dillon, Juliana Huxtable and more confirmed for Somerset House Studios

Somerset House StudiosSomerset House Studios has announced five new bursaries for artists, along with a range of events including live performances, talks, film screenings and a dinner, all taking place over the course of the spring/summer 2020 season.

The five new bursary opportunities are for early and mid-career artists with a focus on artists who are “pushing bold ideas, engaging with urgent issues and pioneering new technologies” and artists who are underrepresented in the industry.

The bursaries are an opportunity for artists to join the Somerset House Studios community for 12 months from April 2020.

Some other highlights from the announcement include a live showcase of Beatrice Dillon’s much anticipated debut album ‘WORKAROUND’, an inaugural residency from artist/DJ Juliana Huxtable who will give a talk on sustainability of an artists practice, and AMPLIFY Digital Arts Initiative which returns in May, a platform and aims to connect woman artists and practitioners working in the digital arts, VR, AR, immersive storytelling and electronic music.

Also as part of the We Are All Ancestors site wide programme, resident Tabitha Thorlu-Bangura will host an intimate dinner in The Deadhouse, with a menu by Hannah Hammond, a chef at the Michelin starred River Café.
