by Edward Hopkins ·

Returning to Brooklyn’s most coveted entertainment complex, global dance music pioneer Carl Cox will be bringing a taste of what some of the industry’s heavyweights have to offer for a premier weekend takeover at Avant Gardner on Saturday, March 19th for ‘Carl Cox Invites’ and Sunday, 20th, 2022 for ‘Carl Cox House Sessions.’ Following his sold-out 2021 season-closing event at Avant Gardner’s outdoor oasis The Brooklyn Mirage, the two-night indoor event will feature extensive musical programming handpicked by Carl Cox himself. Fans and music connoisseurs alike will have the unique opportunity to experience an eclectic, multistage lineup of live performances and DJ sets from some of the biggest names in house and techno.
CARL COX BROOKLYN WEEKEND TAKEOVER: INVITES AND HOUSE SESSIONS [TICKETS]
On Saturday night, dance music aficionados will be treated to a true gem of lineup for ‘Carl Cox Invites’ with the powerhouse himself as Carl Cox is joined by fifteen esteemed tastemakers across three stages. Set to soundtrack the night is New York native Avision, alongside London-based creative force B.Traits and Tronic label head, Christian Smith. Rising Brooklyn talent DESNA, named one of DJ Mag’s 2019 ‘Emerging Acts To Watch’, will also be bringing her A-game, as well as SCI+TEC founder and acclaimed techno innovator Dubfire. U.K. house music staple Hannah Wants is also set to perform her four-on-the-floor rinsers, as well as Philadelphia’s acid house maestro, Josh Wink. Queen of techno and MOOD Records head Nicole Moudaber will also be bringing her propulsively driving, dark-tinged sounds to the dancefloor, plus Phil Moffa, renowned audio engineer and one half of Lost Sounds of Saturn (Seth Troxler + Phil Moffa), will take the decks. Rounding out the night’s DJ performances are Italian techno ambassador Sam Paganini and Resident Advisor’s former #1 DJ Seth Troxler with his signature entrancing selections.
Recognized worldwide for pushing the boundaries and encouraging artists to make and perform their music live through their label Awesome Soundwave, Carl Cox has also invited four highly sought-after live acts including long-time collaborator and Awesome Soundwave co-founder Christopher Coe for an exclusive performance with his trademark dance floor funk, modular techno artist Colin Benders, Michigan’s electronic music pioneer Gaiser with his bass-driven techno, and RUKUS label-head Matador.
Highly regarded in the dance music landscape, Carl Cox and Danny Tenaglia have dominated their respective genres for many years. Growing up in Brooklyn, Tenaglia was often spinning his signature house music sound between Miami and New York City in the 80s and 90s. Around the same time, Carl Cox was championing both acid house and techno in the United Kingdom. Over time, they’ve played back-to-back sets together all around the globe, including in New York City. 2001 saw the pair grace the decks at the now-closed Manhattan nightclub staple Twilo, and several years later the duo linked back up for an epic set at the Meatpacking District’s former nightclub gem Pacha. Fast-forward to 2022 and many joint performances later, the esteemed talents will return to Brooklyn for another milestone house music spectacular.
Tickets for the monumental two-night takeover are on sale now via Resident Advisor and DICE.
