Daft Punk’s Former Creative Minds to Reunite for Rare Panel After “Interstella 5555” Screening
Daft Punk’s interstellar legacy will shine bright once again at a rare, one-night-only event in Los Angeles.
Following the upcoming debut Los Angeles screening of Daft Punk's iconic anime film, Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem, a panel will take place featuring two pivotal figures of the duo's storied career: former manager Pedro Winter and Creative Director Cédric Hervet.
This is a particularly special reunion considering both Winter and Hervet were instrumental in shaping Daft Punk's legacy, from their pioneering electronic music to their cutting-edge visual projects. Fans can expect a deep dive into the making of Interstella 5555 and insights into some of the creative genius that defined the robots' legacy.
The September 30th screening of Interstella 5555 at the United Theater kicks off HEARTCOMIX’s 20th anniversary celebrations and marks a rare opportunity to view it in theaters. Originally released in May 2003 as a visual companion to Daft Punk's sophomore album Discovery, it was co-created with Hervet, director Kazuhisa Takenouchi and the late anime legend Leiji Matsumoto.
The new version of the film has been remastered in 4K and is the only way to hear Discovery in Dolby 5.1 Surround, according to a press release shared with EDM.com.
Following the panel with Winter and Hervet, the night will then close with an afterparty featuring a DJ set from Busy P (Winter himself) and a number of secret guests.
