First Listen: Tisoki links with MineSweepa and David Kuncio on genre-crossing 'See You Again'
Tisoki’s sophomore EP, due this spring Steve Aoki‘s DIM MAK imprint, is already shaping up to be a colorful affair. Coming off a recent collaboration with emo rap figure Lil Lotus, Tisoki continues to roll out joint material, this time with MineSweepa and vocalist David Kuncio on the new genre-blurring “See You Again.” Fusing textured soundscapes and buzzing breaks with cleanly delivered versework from Kuncio, Tisoki and MineSweepa put together a polished patchwork of dub, hip-hop, and trap elements on their latest.
Ahead of the track’s official release, Tisoki and MineSweepa gave us an inside look at the process behind the new collaboration.
“Making ‘See You Again’ was a super fun process, I had actually had the topline laying around for a while but came to a complete dead end on the production as I lost all inspiration for the track. Tour was starting soon and me and MineSweepa had always meant to start a song but never got around to it. He had the main sound of the drop as a demo and that instantly reignited my spark for the record.”
“Working with [Tisoki] is so much fun because we both have our own vision and seeing our visions come together on “See You Again” was really cool. It was almost second nature the way it went down. We didn’t question each other and we just made a fun song. I’m very thankful to work with such a talented artist,” added MineSweepa.
