Freedom Parade is returning to Poland after 20 long years this coming weekend (30 July), with the last edition taking place way back in 2002. “The Freedom Parade is a fact. The legend is back!” stated Hanna Zdanowska, Mayor of Łódź.
A monumental moment for electronic lovers in Poland is happening this weekend, on 30 July. After much speculation and rumours running wild, Freedom Parade has officially confirmed its long-awaited and sought after return to the streets in Poland’s second biggest city Łódź. A symbol of openness, the freedom of self-expression and the love of good music, everything from techno to hardcore and house will be celebrated.
The first edition of this parade took place way back in 1997, being an important and powerful landmark event for Poland back in the day up until 2002. With people finding their freedom from the grips of Covid-19 once again, this year seems as suitable as ever to celebrate everything that the parade stands for, and so it comes back with a vengeance.
“We officially confirm that after 25 years since the first Freedom Parade and 20 years since the last one, the parade is coming back to Lodz! We cut off all speculations and rumours, which have been spread by the citizens of Łódź for a while now – the Freedom Parade is a fact. The legend is back!” says the mayor, celebrating the parade
With the last edition bringing together over 80,000 ravers, a new legacy and chapter in the Freedom Parade’s history books will be written and it all kicks off this Saturday. For those who can’t get enough musical action, the organisers have also released the stacked lineup for the official after party taking place in Wytwornia club. Rave The Planet head Dr. Motte will be in the mix, alongside drum & bass stars Aphrodite and Ed Rush and also local neo-gabba collective Wixapol. You can grab tickets for that right here.
