Good Morning Mix: Gesaffelstein's historic Coachella 2015 'retirement' performance – Dancing Astronaut
It’s hard to believe that a half-decade has already passed since Gesaffelstein announced, to his fans’ dismay, that his live sets at Coachella‘s 2015 edition would be his last. Many bought their tickets to the festival that year solely to see the enigmatic Frenchman’s final sendoff. Expectations were naturally quite high, yet easily exceeded; across both weekends, the Aleph composer served his audiences a minimalisting, yet awe-inspiring audiovisual display that opened with his 2011 smash hit, “OPR,” and continued into a shadowy abyss complete with live edited cuts from his new album, and plenty of gems from his back catalog. This was history in the making—only to be topped by the maestro himself during his eventual comeback in 2019.
Relive the intensity let the music transport the mind back to that iconic weekend from five years ago. Hopefully, in brings a spot of joy and nostalgia amid the absence of Coachella this spring.
