Hudson Mohawke unveils R&B-charged bootleg EP, 'Heart of the Night'
Despite laying low for majority of the year, Hudson Mohawke has returned for good, cementing his release streak with a new, four-track EP, Heart of the Night. The multicolored package features distinctive bootlegs of R&B classics as HudMo makeovers the likes of Beyoncé and Sean Paul’s “Baby Boy,” Ciara‘s “Get Up,” and Christina Milian’s “Dip It Low.” The Glasglow producer kicked off his 2020 output with two collaborative joints, “BENT,” and “Love Minus Zero,” on top of a solo cut, “Black Cherry” before dropping the surprise EP.
Composed of remixes collected over the years from the HudMo vault, Heart of the Night recharges hand-selected, old-school signatures in vivid tones, drawing fresh psychedelic energy from dizzying layers of beats, synergetic chaos, and off-kilter sonics. Spotlighting the original vocals with glazes of glossy synths and jittery rhythms, the bootlegs bask in oversaturated palettes for an idiosyncratic, auditory experience.
