Ibiza clubs will not open in 2020.
Diario de Ibiza reports that clubs could remain shut well into 2021 or until a coronavirus vaccine is found.
Venues and nightclub associations had been lobbying to get clubs open toward the end of the 2020 season with social distancing and increased hygiene measures in place but the Balearic government has ruled out any club activity this year.
Things had been looking optimistic for the White Isle when it was confirmed that tourists would allowed to travel to the island from July and Ibiza Rocks announced a series of socially-distanced pool parties beginning July 1.

Amnesia had even begun selling tickets to its closing party in October and several promoters and DJs forecasted that clubbing in some form would happen in Ibiza this year in an article on Mixmag just this week.
Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza are the first major clubs to announce that they will not be opening in 2020.
The venues made a joint statement on Instagram, saying: "It is with a heavy heart that we announce there will be no events at both Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza this summer
"This is clearly a deep impact for us all, however we understand that this is the correct decision taking into account the situation caused by COVID-19."
Tourists will be able to visit Ibiza this summer but it currently looks like there won't be an opportunity to dance. To keep up to date with the status of Ibiza 2020, click here.
