Influential DJ Jackmaster Dead at 38
Esteemed DJ and electronic music producer Jackmaster has died at the age of 38, his family announced today.
The influential Scottish artist, whose real name was Jack Revill, tragically succumbed to complications of an "accidental head injury" sustained on the island of Ibiza.
"It is with profound sorrow that we confirm the untimely passing of Jack Revill, known to many as Jackmaster," reads a statement released on Revill's Instagram today. "Jack tragically died in Ibiza on the morning of 12th October, following complications arising from an accidental head injury."
Rising to prominence in Glasgow, Jackmaster held residencies on BBC Radio 1 and co-founded the prominent Numbers imprint. The record label became a platform for pioneering electronic artists like Jamie xx, Hudson Mohawke and the late SOPHIE, among many others.
"His family—Kate, Sean, and Johnny—are utterly heartbroken," the statement continues. "While deeply touched by the overwhelming support from friends, colleagues, and fans, the family kindly requests privacy as they navigate the immense grief of this devastating loss."
