James Blake Returns to Electronic Roots With Woozy Trap Track, “Big Hammer”

It's a trifecta for James Blake, who has revealed a new single, album and tour.

Blake today released "Big Hammer," the first single from his upcoming sixth studio album, Playing Robots Into Heaven. The prolific producer returned to his electronic roots with the woozy, experimental trap track, a largely instrumental banger that rumbles to a close with gritty dancehall vocal samples.

"Big Hammer" is a far cry from the introspective electro-soul of Blake's last album, the stunning Friends That Break Your Heart. Check out the track's official music video, which follows a frolicsome crime spree from the perspective of the bandits' getaway car.

Blake is now gearing up to take Playing Robots Into Heaven on the road for an international headlining tour with dates in Europe, North America and the U.K. He'll kick things off in Milan on September 18th before ultimately tying a bow on the tour in L.A. on October 19th.

Fans can now pre-order Playing Robots Into Heaven, which is scheduled to drop on September 8th. In the meantime, read our recent candid interview with the Grammy-winning producer here.
