Jessy Covets Fights Off Inner Demons in Gritty Electro-Pop Track, “Monsters In My Head”

Jessy Covets is back with "Monsters In My Head," an electro-pop track moonlighting as a descent into the abyss of the human condition.

A versatile producer, DJ, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Covets is no stranger to the electronic dance music world. She's graced the stages of EDC Orlando, Wakaan Music Festival and Colorado's iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre and collaborated with NGHTMRE and Liquid Stranger, among other renowned producers.

She's harnessed the energy of EDM in her new single but channels it through hauntingly catchy pop to deliver a stark, unsettling peek into her psyche. Her lyrics are a twisted embrace of the anxious thoughts that so often dominate our waking hours—an acknowledgment that even our darkest impulses have a grip on our mind that can become difficult to shake.

Covets' tortured, crystalline vocals glide over a glitched-out backdrop in "Monsters In My Head," painting a vivid portrait of those internal demons and fighting off their commitment to consume her. "Always listening to the monsters in my head / Can't let them control me / But without them I'd be lonely," she plaintively intones, her voice dripping with a melancholic resignation. It's a lament that will be familiar to anyone who has struggled with anxiety or depression—the realization that even our most debilitating thoughts have become a sort of comfort.
