Kenya Grace Wins Prestigious ASCAP Global Impact Award

Breakout singer-songwriter, producer and EDM.com Class of 2024 inductee Kenya Grace is receiving some well-deserved recognition from ASCAP.

The leading performance-rights organization will soon award Grace with its prestigious Global Impact Award, which recognizes her meteoric ascent to the upper echelon of electronic music following the release of her 2023 hit "Strangers."

After going viral on TikTok, the track effectively redefined liquid drum & bass for a new generation of dance music enthusiasts en route to being named one of EDM.com's best songs of the year. It's also worth noting that "Strangers" became the first #1 in the history of Billboard's Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart to be written, produced and sung solely by a woman.

"Kenya Grace is at the forefront of a new wave of dance-driven pop music," said Paul Williams, ASCAP President and Chairman of the Board. "As the sole writer and producer of her self-recorded songs, Kenya possesses a DIY style that is staggeringly innovative and has made her a favorite with the dance music community. We are thrilled to present this trailblazing music creator with the ASCAP Global Impact Award."

Grace is joined in celebration of her award by fellow recipient Cian Ducrot, an Irish indie singer-songwriter who received the ASCAP Vanguard Award, which recognizes "artists whose innovative work is helping to shape the future of music."

By receiving the honor, Grace follows previous recipients the likes of Charli XCX, Dua Lipa, MNEK, Lewis Capaldi, Dev Hynes and Becky Hill among others. The award will be presented at "ASCAP London Celebrates," an invitation-only celebration scheduled for June 18th in London.
