Knock2 and ISOxo Stun With Surprise Album, “4EVR”: Listen

Armed with nothing but attitude and a disregard for convention, ISOxo and Knock2 are as defiant as ever in their debut collaborative album, 4EVR.

Collectively known as ISOKNOCK, the duo has birthed a mutant, a creature that spasms with the raw energy of punk-rock and the writhing aggression of trap and bass music. Equal parts beautiful and belligerent, the surprise album is an experience that leaves listeners feeling like they've been through some kind of metaphysical car wash—battered and soaked in sound, but somehow cleaner for the experience.

ISOKNOCK stomp in with masks and nail-spiked baseball bats as emergency alarms kick off the album's opener, "THRASH (PARTY STARTER)." It's not long before all hell breaks loose in a thunderous trap drop, where distorted synths contort and screech like banshees.

Much like ISOKNOCK's middle-fingers-in-the-air live shows, the energy doesn't relent from there. They follow with "TROUBLE," a nasty breakbeat banger; "ENERGY," a four-on-the-floor flamethrower featuring Zimbabwean rapper-singer Bantu; and "SMACK TALK," the duo's fan-favorite collaboration with pioneering trap producer RL Grime.

Elsewhere in 4EVR, the producers stun with "BLIND," an aching ballad engulfed by emotional anarchy. Swapping bass drops for heartache, they craft a haunting breakup track bemoaning a relationship shattered by broken promises. Here, tortured verses from Araya and Sur Back bleed into a chorus that howls with the torment of a thousand deleted text messages.

ISOxo and Knock2 then find clarity in the titular "4EVR," a visceral, trance-inspired track featuring anguished vocals by cade clair. Lost in a haze of strobes and serotonin, he croons about numbed nerves struggling to process the electric touch of a stranger-turned-soulmate: "Can you hold onto me, tell me everything's okay / I didn't know that I would find love all in a rave / Even if you touch me I can't feel it anyway."

Out now via 88rising, 4EVR arrives in the midst of a meteoric rise for ISOxo and Knock2, who were named to the EDM.com Class of 2022 and 2023, respectively. Among other high-profile sets, the duo in April debuted at Coachella, where they performed at the festival's iconic Sahara Tent.
