NERO “Draw Energy” From the Streets of London in New Single: Listen
NERO are back with "Draw Energy" the third single off their long-awaited album, Into The Unknown.
Set to release sometime this year, the album is the influential trio's first since 2015. They said the new single has a transhumanist theme, exploring the relationship between humanity and technology via the sound of a machine they encountered in London.
"This song started with the first sound you hear in the track—which was a piece of machinery that we recorded in a car park. We knew we wanted to build something heavy and energetic around it but with a feeling of 'human meets machine,'" they said in a statement.
The technological element is introduced immediately in "Draw Energy" before the human element comes into play by virtue of a breathy refrain: "Don’t stop. Take me. Breathe. Draw Energy."
With its mechanized saws and glowing drums, the new single follows the release of October's "Truth" and NERO's first drum & bass song in 14 years, "Blame You." Moreover, after revealing that they found a stash of CDs featuring unreleased music from the 2000s, they would later confirm that the contents will be released on their fan club page over the course of the year.
