Netflix has made a Black Lives Matter category

Netflix has launched a new category titled Black Lives Matter, dedicated to films and TV series covering the experiences and stories of Black people.

In a statement, the streaming platform wrote: “When we say 'Black Lives Matter', we also mean 'Black storytelling matters'.

“With an understanding that our commitment to true, systemic change will take time – we're starting by highlighting powerful and complex narratives about the Black experience.

“When you log onto Netflix today, you will see a carefully curated list of titles that only begin to tell the complex and layered stories about racial injustice and Blackness in America."

Titles included in the category include the Academy Award nominated Ava DuVernay documentary 13th and the director’s miniseries about the Exonerated Five When They See Us, Beyoncé film HOMECOMING, Abdur-Rahman Muhammad’s investigative documentary Who Killed Malcolm X? and Bob Marley documentary Who Shot The Sheriff?
