New meets old in Bonobo's remix of Michael Kiwanuka's 'Final Days'
The elusive Bonobo returns with his first remix in three years, unexpectedly taking on the soulful and funky fresh source material of Michael Kiwanuka’s “Final Days.”
Those familiar with Kiwanuka’s raw, folk-rock style might pinpoint his style as a bit left field of Bonobo’s, but while the producers might fall on different ends of the spectrum, the resulting harmony in Bonobo’s spin simply speaks for itself. Bonobo’s remix is a bit of new meets old, with the seasoned producer complementing his more recent affinity for four-on-the-floor beat structures with his established ability to not only harness but also polish the vocal track at hand.
With a handful of singles arriving in the past year, and now, his first remix in several, rumors of Bonobo’s next full-length LP have begun circulating, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet. For now, listeners can stream his remix of Michael Kiwanuka’s “Final Days” below.
