Steve Angello and Modern Tales Drop New Collaboration, “Darkness In Me”

Steve Angello and Modern Tales have joined forces for a new single, "Darkness In Me," just in time for Valentine's Day.

No stranger to high-profile collaborations with stars like Pharrell, The Weeknd and Alicia Keys, the Swedish House Mafia member instead showcased a rising act from his home country, Modern Tales, a duo comprising Jonas Rathsman and Francis Novotny. The result is "Darkness In Me," a bouncy track filled with themes of temptation.

An angelic introduction gives way to a steady beat rich with minimal, arpeggiated synths. The track's sharp cuts, lyrical delivery and razor-edged production give it a nostalgic house feel, and the final result is a surefire dancefloor anthem.

"Darkness In Me" is the first solo release of the year from Angello and its release follows last October's festival anthem "Hooligans." A month after that, he revealed that Swedish House Mafia had scrapped an entire album's worth of music which was planned as a follow-up to 2022's long-awaited debut album, Paradise Again.

"Darkness In Me" is out now via Astralwerks. You can watch the official video below and stream the new single here.
