Tycho leads 'Ghost of Tsushima' remix package with spirited, organic beats
Feudal Japan meets modern electronic in a remix EP featuring innovative and beat-centric reworks of inclusions from the soundtrack of PlayStation 4’s forthcoming action and adventure game, Ghost of Tsushima. Out Milan Records on July 10, the EP, titled Sound of the Storm – Ghost of Tsushima Soundtrack: Reimagined, invites Tycho, TOKiMONSTA, The Glitch Mob, and Alessandro Cortini of Nine Inch Nails to apply their respective visions to the samurai epic’s time-capsule soundscapes.
Available now, days before the full release, is Tycho’s take on “Ghost of Kodoku.” Albeit a bit of an unexpected pairing, Tycho strikes harmony with the Ghost of Tsushima derivative, which, after some reflecting, comes as no surprise considering that both the producer and the video game share two specific characteristics: lush aesthetics and the ability to bring a digital environment to life.
The end result bears a bounce that resembles Tycho’s 2011 LP, Dive, but sees the California producer use the vibrant source material to show all that he’s learned in the nine years that have succeeded this release. Ghost of Tsushima will become available for PlayStation 4 on July 17. In the meantime, listeners can stream Tycho’s remix below.
