Whethan places hard-hitting spin on Charli XCX's 'claws'
In between the dispersal of singles from his approaching freshman album, FANTASY, Whethan has put forth an ample selection of quarantine entertainment, from his performance at Digital Mirage to the episode of Foreign Family Collective‘s Intermission Broadcast Mix series that he hosted in May. Tapping back in to remixing, which catalyzed his emergence in the electronic music limelight in his earlier days on the dance scene, the Windy City local is now handing in his third consecutive remix of the past month.
Whethan’s gritty switch-up for Charli XCX’s “claws” isn’t the first time that the two artists’ names have appeared together, with Whethan’s revamp serving as the informal follow-up to their 2017 outing, “love gang.” The remix trails both Whethan’s Louis The Child-assisted take on Rich The Kid and Kendrick Lamar and his nostalgic house alteration of Spongebob Squarepants’ “Stadium Rave.”
