W&W Turn Viral “Spinning Cat” Meme Into Psytrance Anthem With a Cause

The codependency between social media and music has never been stronger, but W&W have taken it a step further with their new meme-inspired psytrance track, "OIIA OIIA (Spinning Cat)."

The duo's edit went nearly as viral as the original "Spinning Cat" clip, as a video of them debuting it at their New Years performance garnered over 85 million views. To top it off, they dubbed the performance "Cat Rave."

The energetic beat created by W&W seems to perfectly mirror the absurd and playful energy of the meme, which derives from a blind Ohio cat named Ethel. And though she doesn't know it, her video and its subsequent remix are funding her care.

W&W have pledged to donate a portion of the track's proceeds directly to Ethel as well as the Cat Welfare Association, the non-profit shelter that "gave her a second chance," according to a press release shared with EDM.com.
