MYRNE Kickstarts New Creative Chapter With “Conflicted” Alongside Manila Killa
“2023 is the year I make music specifically for dancing.”
Sharing his first single of the year, MYRNE has reemerged stronger than ever, joining forces with Manila Killa to kickstart a new creative path.
“2023 is the year I make music specifically for dancing,” proclaimed the Singaporean producer, whose artistic growth has been remarkable since his initial break into the scene back in 2017.
Out now via Astralwerks, “Conflicted” comes exactly three years after the release of MYRNE and Killa's heavenly Fluorescence EP, a two-tracker filled with soft dance grooves, playful melodies and soothing vocals. On “Conflicted,” however, the inspiration comes straight from the dark corners of the dancefloor.
“It's one of the first times I actually thought of making music for the club, while in the club,” MYRNE says of his new single. “I was at a Soap party in Seoul and they just had the best atmosphere, lights, people and all that.”
Inspiration struck MYRNE in the middle of the dancefloor, and he recorded a voice note while the ideas were still fresh. “Conflicted” is a mesmerizing and bass-heavy sonic journey, and it's as fitting for an underground dancefloor as it is for late-night radio rotations. Sultry vocal samples, warm basslines and shimmering chords drive the tune, which draws stylistic influences from the dark aesthetic of minimal techno and the retro-futuristic sonics of French house.
