We Combed Through the 2023 Coachella Lineup to Find 5 Can’t-Miss Electronic Sets

With over 150 acts on the lineup, a visually stunning spectacle and a long-forgotten alias are just a couple of many can't-miss sets at Coachella 2023.

In just a few short hours, the expansive fields at the Empire Polo Club will come alive with the sounds of this year's Coachella artists.

The iconic festival is once again expected to dominate the cultural zeitgeist as it welcomes prominent voices from global genres like reggaeton, hip-hop, R&B, K-pop and, of course, EDM.

Nestled within that wide-ranging musical umbrella is a broad collection of tastemakers from all corners of the electronic music world. From techno mavens and groovy house producers to mainstage EDM heavy-hitters, Coachella 2023 offers a diverse palette of dance music across its six stages.

Whyte Fang

Emerging from the darkest corners of the creative genius of Alison Wonderland, her mysterious Whyte Fang alter ego waves its freak flag proudly. A self-described "weird side" of Wonderland, she is the revived alias of the superstar singer-songwriter and electronic music producer.

Expect to witness wonky, industrial and goth-laden spectacle from the eccentric mind of Ms. Wonderland. Oh, and did we mention she'll be performing nearly eight months pregnant?

Where and When: Gobi on Friday, April 14th at 9:25pm.

LP Giobbi

Few have risen through the ranks of dance music quite like LP Giobbi, the "Queen of Piano House." With a smile as infectious as her carefree house sound, she's one of Coachella's hidden gems.

And as the release of Giobbi's debut album looms, her Coachella set serves as the ultimate springboard.

Where and When: Yuma Tent on Sunday, April 16th at 2pm.

Mathame

Over the last few years, Italian duo Mathame have been riding high on the cresting wave that is melodic techno.

Their emotive soundscapes have hypnotized dance music aficionados the world over, with hits like "Nothing Around Us" and "Skywalking" leading the charge. Their latest EP, To Hope, is a clear indication of the cinematic direction the pair are headed towards.

Tale of Us

The Tale of Us duo have emerged as flag-bearers of electronic music's intersection with visual expression. Through the rapid growth of their Afterlife label, they're entrenched as today's arbiter of taste when it comes to emotive techno music.

Tale of Us have a hauntingly cerebral sound and the dazzling—and oftentimes chilling—live music experience to match. It's worth noting there's a half-hour gap in-between their set and the one before them, so you know they have something special up their sleeves.

Eric Prydz presents HOLO

If there were ever an electronic music show to behold, it's Eric Prydz's HOLO. And yes, we didn't exactly have to "comb through" the lineup to discover it, but we digress.

Named one of EDM.com's best performances of 2022, the subversive HOLO show enraptures the senses with its mind-bending visual production. Rarely seen on the West Coast, HOLO and its 3D wizardry could very well end up as Coachella's top experience.

Videos simply do not do it justice, so you can expect us to be front row and center for this historic performance.

Where and When: Outdoor Theatre on Saturday, April 15th at 10:20pm.
