In 2017, Calvin Harris released ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 1‘, an album that was not intended to be released but eventually was. The album featured hits ‘Slide‘ with Frank Ocean and Migos, and ‘Feels‘ with Pharrell Williams, Katy Perry and Big Sean. Now, after 5 years, the time has come for ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2‘ featuring Dua Lipa, Charlie Puth, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake and many more.
‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2’ brings us the same sound as its predecessor. It has the same 80s vibes. The first songs released were ‘Potion’ featuring Dua Lipa & Young Thug, ‘Stay With Me’ featuring Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake & Halsey, ‘New Money‘ featuring 21 Savage and ‘New To You‘ featuring Normani, Tinashe & Offset. The first song mentioned gained the most recognition, as fans call it a ‘One Kiss‘ 2.0. If you are a fan of ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol.1’, you will certainly like Vol. 2 as well. For fans expecting his EDM, larger-than-life sound, they won’t find it here, instead being greeted to chilled out, summer vibes complete with disco and groove elements. If you miss his dance music side, then fear not as the producer recently revealed to BBC Radio 2 that he will be going back in that direction following this release.
There are mixed reactions to this release as Calvin Harris continues the ‘Funk Wav Bounces’ journey, but you can listen to the album below (or via other streaming services here) to make up your own mind about it.
