HoneyLuv’s playlist serves as a snapshot of the Black and queer roots of electronic music, dating back to the genre's deeply influential disco and house of the '70s and '80s. When asked what parallels she draws between those timeless records and her own music, HoneyLuv points to its soulful traits.

"The house music from the '80s and '90s are a huge inspiration to the music I make, especially now that I am finally finding a sound that is my own,” HoneyLuv tells EDM.com. “House music back then had soul and funk and the music I make will always have that soulful feeling and a funky groove. Only a few artists these days make house music with that soulful feeling and it’s super important to me to continue that into the new generation of house music."

"As for sound wise, I love finding sounds that were popular in that era whether it’s cowbells, some 808s or 909s and combining it with that HoneyLuv modern sound."
