Diplo Drops Star-Studded Lead Single From Upcoming “Thomas Wesley Chapter 2” Album
"Use Me (Brutal Hearts)" includes high-profile features from Sturgill Simpson and Dove Cameron.
Diplo's putting the cowboy hat back on.
A new era of the multi-alias star's country and Western-focused project Thomas Wesley is on the way and the first taste of the project's upcoming album has arrived. Ahead of his appearance at Stagecoach Music Festival later this month, the lead single "Use Me (Brutal Hearts)" has been revealed with high-profile features from Sturgill Simpson and Dove Cameron.
Simpson and Cameron trade verses, each capturing the essence of a love with no strings attached. Though it's been a couple years since we've last heard from Wesley, the production sees the hit-making producer melding the worlds of pop, dance and country music as seamlessly as ever.
"I took many journeys in my life and consulted a guru on the highest hill I could find in Florida (it was a pile of used cars at a landfill)," Diplo said via Instagram. "He told me to launch the Thomas Wesley reboot I needed to combine disco, classic country, pop, and swamp sauce."
If the recipe for "Use Me" is a sign of what's to come on the rest of Wesley's upcoming album, it's sure to be his most memorable work yet. Along with the song, he had another wildcard reveal waiting up his sleeve, telling fans he'd recruited Academy Award-winning actor Sean Penn to fill the leading role in the already star-studded "Use Me" music video.
Diplo's Thomas Wesley: Chapter 2 - Swamp Savant is due for release on April 28th.
