Diplo, Ja Rule, and more to feature in new 'Celebrity Show-Off' TV series
With most filming indefinitely on pause as a result of COVID-19 and social distancing measures, a brand new TBS series is looking to take advantage of the fact that celebrities are stuck in their homes. Celebrity Show-Off, set to premiere on June 23, will feature the likes of Diplo, Ja Rule, and Bella Thorne, among a grip of others.
Taking inspiration from popular Korean series My Little Television, the featured celebrities will be given virtually unrestricted permission to show off whatever they’ve got. The head of unscripted programming for TBS, Corie Henson, said in a statement, “From sharing never-before-seen talents, to performing crazy stunts or even bringing on special guests, the celebs’ shows are creatively ambitious with DIY charm—since our cast are all working with the limitations of what they’ve got available at home.”
Each episode will feature five celebrity contestants premiering self-shot content with the goal of attracting the largest online audience. The shows will be uploaded to TBS’ official YouTube channel and judged according to their respective view count, view duration, and overall engagement. The lowest scoring contestants will be removed from the contest, and replaced with a new familiar celebrity face. Longer survival in the contest will generate more money raised for charity. Tune into TBS on June 23 at 10:00 p.m. EST for the series premiere.
