DJ Susan Launches New Bass Music Label, Peak Dial

DJ Susan, house music's architect of sweat-soaked dancefloors, is flipping the script with the launch of Peak Dial, a new record label dedicated to bass music.

Known for his infectious energy and groove-driven sets, Susan is now venturing into heavier sonic terrain, emphasizing a focus on the genre's foundational sounds while carving out fresh opportunities for emerging artists. It's a big move for the gregarious founder of Hood Politics Records, who has long been beloved as both a flag-bearer and community-builder in the house music space.

"For my entire life I have been passionate about this incredible genre of music," he said in a statement, outlining his vision to "create the next greatest community" in the bass music space.

Susan's pivot highlights a growing trend of producers challenging boundaries, blending the soul of house with the visceral impact of bass. Look no further than dance music superstar John Summit, whose rework of Sage the Gemini's "Gas Pedal," produced alongside Subtronics and Tape B, was Beatport's top-selling dubstep track of 2024. Elsewhere in the house scene, Grammy-nominated duo SIDEPIECE and surging producer Disco Lines recently went the bass route in their heavy-hitting collaboration "Fuck It Up."

The first release on Peak Dial is a remix EP of "Frozen Waterfall," a heady house track Susan released through Helix Records back in May 2024. Now available for free download via SoundCloud, the EP features a pair of remixes produced by ON_BRAND and Wednesday Club & Tony Seagal. Take a listen below.
