EXIT Festival Lights Up Serbia’s Novi Sad In Dazzling 2023 Edition

Returning to Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, EXIT Festival just wrapped up what might arguably be its biggest event to date.

Serbia’s largest music festival, EXIT is one of the cultural cornerstones of Novi Sad, donated to the city by founder and majority owner Dušan Kovačević back in 2007. The brand's 22nd festival, which had a striking attendance of over 200,000 fans, took place over four days and nights from July 6-9 and was soundtracked by over 1,000 performers across more than 40 stages.

EXIT, which presented fans with its "Universe" concept and theme this year, was kickstarted by an otherworldly mainstage performance by legendary electronic band The Prodigy as well as two all-female concepts featuring EDM.com Class of 2023 star Indira Paganotto, Nina Kraviz, Amelie Lens and more. While The Prodigy were captivating EXIT’s loyal crowd with their headlining performance, Kraviz and Paganotto met at the festival’s stunning Dance Arena stage for a B2B performance that extended into the early morning hours.

On the festival’s second night, Skrillex made his highly anticipated return to EXIT with a set that was beyond explosive and featured a large number of unreleased tracks, including a huge collaboration with electronic music trailblazer Randomer. To the delight of Serbian fans, Skrillex opened with the 1959 local hit “Zvižduk u 8“ by iconic Yugoslavian musician Đorđe Marjanović.

A haven for electronic dance music, the Dance Arena provided a highlight reel throughout the festival’s duration, hosting performances from Eric Prydz, Ben Böhmer, Mind Against, Agents Of Time and EDM.com Class of 2021 duo Giolì & Assia. Brazilian dance music superstar Vintage Culture also celebrated his 30th birthday onstage.

EXIT is known for its diverse lineups, hosting virtually every music genre across its 40+ stages, from drum & bass and techno to reggae and metal. While the festival’s third day featured mesmerizing performances from SOFI TUKKKER, Alesso and Claptone on the Mainstage, fabled hip-hop group Wu-Tang Clan took the stage on Sunday for a hotly anticipated performance accompanied by a live band.

Following Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike’s performance, red-hot house music trio Keinemusik took the decks at the Dance Arena to close the festival, enchanting the crowd with their hypnotic grooves that lasted well into the next morning.

With its 2023 edition, EXIT once again proved itself to be one of Europe’s most diverse and exciting music festivals. With a long history under its belt and a strong desire to continue to innovate, EXIT shines as bright as ever.
