KOAN Sound Blast Off With First New Single in Two Years, “Ascension”

Known for pioneering the sounds of glitch hop and neurofunk, KOAN Sound are back with their first single in two years, a cinematic drum & bass track called "Ascension." 

"Ascension" integrates haunting strings with frenetic drums for a hair-raising, orchestral experience that truly pushes boundaries. Complete with crisp breaks, textured synths and glitchy bass, the track takes fans on a trip deep into space.

The new single represents "one chapter of a much larger story" for KOAN Sound, the virtuosic duo said on social media. An upcoming album and tour are likely in the works. "The most personal and extensive body of work we've ever put together is complete. The journey starts soon..." they wrote.

KOAN Sound have also been posting behind-the-scenes snippets of their studio sessions, teasing a brand new, hypnotic live production. They've been sharing technical details about their process as well, including how they build their drum breaks and produce distorted, filtered bass.

"We've been working non-stop on building the next iteration of our live performance via these inter-continental jam sessions! Both very much looking forward to when we can present this together in person and share LIVE with you all soon," they added.
