To mark the 30th anniversary of the multi-platinum Beastie Boys album ‘Check Your Head’, UMe will release a limited-edition reissue of the rare 4LP deluxe version, on August 12.
Landing as an artist store exclusive, the much sought-after Beastie Boys box set will feature the 2009 remaster of the original double album, plus two extra LPs of bonus content including remixes, live versions, and B-sides.
Originally released all the way back in April 1992, ‘Check Your Head’ was the group’s third studio album. It was a milestone for the group in a multitude of ways as it was the first album to be produced, in its entirety, by Beastie Boys and Mario Caldato Jr. It featured instrumental contributions from all three members with Adam Horovitz on guitar, Adam Yauch on bass, and Mike Dimond on drums.
Following its original distribution, ‘Check Your Head’ stormed the US Billboard Top 10 with it featuring hit records ‘So What’cha Want,’ ‘Pass The Mic,’ ‘Gratitude’ and ‘Jimmy James’ among others. Ultimately the album returned the Beastie Boys to hard-touring and saw them write themselves further into the history books by reaching platinum-selling status.
The ‘Check Your Head’ 4LP box set can be purchased at participating independent retail outlets and will also be available to pre-order exclusively through the online store, which can be found here.
