Detroit’s Movement Festival Evacuated Due to Severe Weather

Attendees of the 2024 Movement Electronic Music Festival at Detroit's Hart Plaza have evacuated the grounds due to severe weather.

Movement's organizers issued an alert via social media at 6:43pm on Sunday, the festival's second day.

"Attention: Severe weather is heading to Hart Plaza," the alert reads. "All attendees must evacuate immediately. Please head to the nearest exit point."

Ticket-holders swiftly evacuated Hart Plaza as a storm rolled in, an onsite staff member covering Movement confirmed. Rain and thunder are currently battering the festival's grounds as well as 17 mile-per-hour wind gusts, per AccuWeather.

Organizers said they are actively monitoring the weather and will provide updates promptly. Tonight's scheduled headliners were Richie Hawtin, James Blake and a hotly anticipated collaborative DJ set between Idris Elba and legendary Detroit techno producer Kevin Saunderson, among others.
